FORS Compliant Kits

FORS Compliant Kits

The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations, and to demonstrate which operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.

Becoming a FORS member can bring you the peace of mind that your company is managing its work related road risk (WRRR) – and demonstrates to your customers and supply chain your commitment to exceeding the industry standard.

Dun-Bri Group has compiled groups of products as a guide to bring your vehicle(s) up to standard. The FORS Vehicle Safety Guide v6.1 provides detailed information on the safety equipment requirements for vehicles at each level of FORS accreditation (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Here's a concise list of the required equipment for each level:

FORS Bronze Vehicle Requirements:

  • Blind Spot Warning Signage: Mandatory for HGVs and vehicles designed to carry more than 16 passengers. Signage should be prominently placed to the rear of the vehicle to warn about the near-side close proximity blind spot hazard.
  • Side Under-run Protection: Required on both sides of all HGVs unless specifically exempted.
  • Class V and VI Mirrors: Must be fitted to all forward control HGVs to minimize blind spots to the side and front corner of the vehicle. The use of a camera monitoring system can achieve the field of view requirements of these mirrors.

FORS Silver Vehicle Requirements:

  • Audible Warning Systems: For warning vulnerable road users (VRUs) about left-turn and reversing manoeuvres.
  • Blind Spot Vision Aids:
    • A camera system monitoring the near-side vehicle blind spot.
    • An in-cab display screen showing the near-side blind spot view.
    • A close proximity sensor and driver audible alert system for the near-side blind spot.
  • Rear Vision Aids: Rigid goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight must have a camera system for the rear vehicle blind spot. Trailers may also be equipped with camera systems for rear monitoring.

FORS Gold Vehicle Requirements:

  • Blind Spot Vision Aids for All HGVs: Irrespective of the vehicle's age, all must be fitted with a camera system for the near-side blind spot and an in-cab display for viewing this blind spot.
  • The fitment of these aids for vehicles registered before January 1, 2015, can be planned according to the operator’s fleet replacement cycle but must be justified at audit.

This guide underscores the importance of equipping vehicles with appropriate safety features to protect VRUs and comply with FORS standards, ensuring enhanced safety and operational efficiency on the road.
